Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Brief Guard. By creating an account or using the workspace you agree to them.

What Brief Guard is — and is not

Brief Guard drafts, researches and verifies legal documents with AI assistance, grounded in the record you provide and checked against real judgments. It is a tool for qualified professionals: it does not give legal advice, and responsibility for anything filed before a court or served on a party remains entirely with the advocate who files it. Review every clause and run Verify before filing.

Your content

You keep all rights in the matters, documents and case files you bring to the workspace. You warrant that you are entitled to upload them and that doing so breaches no duty you owe a client or a court.

Acceptable use

Credits and billing

Brief Guard runs on a credit system: drafting, research, verification and OCR each draw credits from your firm’s balance, and from your own individual allocation where your firm has set one. New accounts receive a one-time trial grant. Beyond that, top-ups are arranged directly with your firm’s admin or our team rather than by self-serve card payment today. Credits already granted are non-refundable except where the law requires it, and we do not prorate or refund a balance left unused when an account closes.

Ownership of your firm’s work

If you use Brief Guard on your own, the matters, documents and drafts you create are yours. If you are a member of a firm on Brief Guard, work created while acting as that firm belongs to the firm’s account, not to you personally — the same way a chambers’ physical files belong to the chambers, not to whichever associate drafted a particular note. If your membership in a firm ends, your access to that firm’s matters ends immediately with it; only that firm’s own admin can restore it, by adding you back. This does not affect a separate personal account, if you keep using Brief Guard on one.

Availability and changes

The service is provided as-is, without warranty of uninterrupted availability. We may change or discontinue features; where a change materially affects stored work, we will give reasonable notice and keep export available.

Limitation of liability

Brief Guard is a drafting and verification aid, not a substitute for professional judgment — responsibility for anything filed, served or relied on without independent review rests with the advocate of record, as stated above. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against any claim arising from content you submit, generate or file using Brief Guard, from your breach of these terms, or from your breach of a duty you owe a client or a court.

Termination

You may stop using Brief Guard at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, is used fraudulently, or puts other firms on the platform at risk — we will tell you why where we can safely do so. On termination, the retention and deletion rules in our privacy policy apply; a firm’s data remains the firm’s regardless of which member’s account is used to close it.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Surat have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
